ABOUT US
The Mount Tom Amateur Repeater Association, (MTARA) was first chartered in 1978, and is a not-for-profit corporation.
We formed to encourage and foster interest in amateur radio communications and to provide public service.
Its membership is comprised of approximately 110 operators of all license levels, who participate in regular nets, public service events, emergency communications and general amateur radio activities.
MTARA maintains both UHF and VHF repeaters, which are for the use and enjoyment of all licensed amateur radio operators.
In the event that normal communications are disrupted by natural or man made causes, MTARA repeaters are available to provide emergency communications.
We operate our repeater systems under the callsign of W1TOM. We have been know to also use this callsign for active events, such as ARRL Field Day. So if you hear us outside the parameters of the repeater, please work our club on the air, send a QSL and we will quickly return one to you.
The MTARA radio repeater system is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and subject to FCC rules and guidelines.
We invite you to visit one of our monthly (in season) meetings. Contact us to learn more.
