Meet Our President

SCOTTY ACTION POTA.jpg
Brian "Scotty" Scott - KC1VEP

Hello and welcome to our amateur repeater club's website. And as you can see, we are so much more more then just a repeater keeper. We are a fully operational radio club with a great repeater system at our disposal.

The journey and passion of my ham radio experience goes back to where my Uncle (Robert "Bob" Scott, Callsign:  KG4IZA) who was very active in North Carolina. I unfortunately didn’t get into the hobby until later in life when I visited this exact club's past field field day operation site. After my first field day of which Danny Vierno was a big influence, and just after I got my license helped me program my HT‘s to make my first contact as a new tech.

Shortly thereafter introduced me to POTA at Hampton Pines State Park from there. It became program director and actively promoting MTARA in Ham Radio. From spectator back then, and now moving forwarding into Club President today, I bring a vision of helping to motivate this club into a solid future within the amateur radio community,...

My leadership ability and years of community service gives me that drive along with a great team to bring MTARA to a new journey. I am a business owner, former business account executive and a 39 year Shriner. With over 40 years of sales and marketing experience and extensive public relations experience.

I plan to bring my talents to the board, and this club as YOUR President.  Additionally,  I'd like to thank everyone for their support and confidence in my leadership abilities. Please reach out to me or the board members with and compliments or concerns.

73 to all.

President MTARA

Scotty; KC1VEP

Communication...

Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty. Act with integrity.

The greatest problem with communication is we don’t listen to understand. We listen to reply. When we listen with curiosity, we don’t listen with the intent to reply. We listen for what’s behind the words.

~ROY T. BENNETT
